Adding stripes to a ring
We start with a plain band in one metal, and carve channels, into which we inlay stripes of a different metal. Any width and profile of a wedding ring can have stripes applied to it. You can decide on the number of stripes, their widths and how they should be arranged on the ring. The stripes can be parallel, and all the same width or they can be at seemingly random angles, and of varying widths.
Stripes can have a different finish to the body of the ring. We often make diamond-set wedding rings inlaid with stripes. Often we make pairs of striped wedding rings in opposite colour-ways.
Combining design elements
We can also inlay stripes into a fitted wedding ring, or a carved wedding ring. Striped wedding rings can be matte finished or polished.
A matte finish helps to accentuate the contrast in colours because there are no reflections. The stripes can even have a different finish to the body of the ring.
If one partner chooses a platinum ring inlaid with yellow gold stripes, while the other partner prefers a yellow gold ring with platinum stripes, they can have a matching pair of rings with the colours reversed.
