Why design your own engagement ring?
You could just walk into a jeweller’s and choose one from a tray of rings in stock. You could even pick one from a catalogue or on-line store.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with buying a factory made, off-the-shelf, mass-produced wedding ring. – It’s exactly what most people do!
But it doesn't have to be like that!
Becoming engaged is a milestone event in your life, and in your partner's. Why not do it is style, with a ring that you helped to design?
Every commission is different, as is client, so the process can vary, but generally it goes something like this...
Make an Appointment
You give us a call, and have a brief chat about your requirements.
We then check our diaries to find an available time slot that will best suit you.
Come for a Consultation
We meet to discuss your requirements in detail, to get as much information from you as possible, so we truly understand what you are trying to achieve.
There is no obligation to buy.
Inspiration
We keep in stock a selection of rings for you to see. We can also show you pictures of past commissions.
These are useful for reference, when discussing possibilities.
Working to your budget
We'll need to know the sort of figure you have in mind so we can make tailor the design accordingly
The price of an engagement ring is determined by the costs of materials and labour needed to create the ring.
We need to decide how much of the total budget can be allocated to precious metal, the stone(s) and craftsman time.
Sourcing Stones
Once we know the budget available for the diamond or other stone we are able to research what stones are currently available that fit your criteria.

We'll supply a shortlist of suitable gems from which we can choose a selection to be sent "on appro", for you to see.
Creation
When you place an order we ask for a deposit of 25% of the total price.
The price is fixed at that point, because this is when we purchase the materials.
A date is agreed for the completion of your ring.
Now we can go ahead and make your ring!
We let you know when it is ready to collect.
You pay the balance on collection.

Since 1985 Aurum designer-jewellers has worked with thousands of clients, creating the engagement rings to their individual requirements.
As we don't have sales staff, you'll speak with someone who actually makes rings. A skilled goldsmith from our workshop will guide you through the design process. Between us we'll come up with a design that's perfect for you.

Solitaire engagement ring
An engagement ring with a single diamond is probably the most popular type of engagement ring.

The simplicity of the design focusses attention on the stone.
The example shown features an oval diamond, claw-set in platinum.
Halo engagement rings
The "halo" style has been growing in popularity over recent years.
The centre stone is enhanced by a of small round diamonds that surround it.
Any shape of diamond can be used for the main stone. The example shown features a cushion-shaped centre diamond.
Daisy Cluster
The daisy cluster is a classic engagement ring style, featuring a round centre stone, surrounded by smaller diamonds resembling the petals of a daisy.
The example shown is a modern take on the traditional style, which was made more robust than usual, to stand up to a modern lifestyle.
Trilogy engagement rings
A Trilogy engagement ring has three stones, which could be the same size, or alternatively graduate, as in the example shown, which features princess-cut diamonds, set in platinum.
Don't expect to see your perfect ring on this website
